In the words of former WHO Director-General, Dr. Margaret Chan in 2015 “Antimicrobial resistance is a crisis that must be managed with the utmost urgency”. The fight against Antimicrobial Resistance is also high on the European Union’s agenda, and is implemented through its One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance.

Because antimicrobial resistance continues to be a threat to global public health, the Oral Health Platform has signed the World Federation of Public Health Associations (WFPHA) Call to Action on AMR, which calls on all governments, the private sector, NGOs, health professionals, public and private research organizations, and all stakeholders to ensure that public health remains at the centre of all policy and scientific endeavours in the field of antimicrobial resistance.
