Platform's participation in CHRODIS Plus as a Collaborating Partner officialised

The Platform’s participation as a Collaborating Partner in the EU Joint Action On Chronic Diseases Plus (CHRODIS Plus) was confirmed over the Summer 2017. This is a great testimony to the Platform’s contribution to the work of Work Package 5 “Health Promotion” of the Joint Action CHRODIS, which ended in February 2017.

The Platform was represented by its Chair Nigel Carter and Board members Kenneth Eaton and Paula Vassallo, during the kick-off conference of CHRODIS Plus in Vilnius on 18-20 September 2017.

The Platform’s involvement in CHRODIS Plus will be through WP5 “Health Promotion & Disease Prevention”, which will focus on the following objectives:

  • Improve countries’ approach to promoting health & preventing chronic diseases
  • Generate learning and improve the effectiveness of health promotion and disease prevention
  • Support health promotion across the broader health system

During this conference, Nigel, Ken and Paula had the opportunity to engage with European Health Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis. He showed great enthusiasm for, and was supportive of, the need for oral health to be recognised as a core element of public health and the Platform’s call for inclusion of oral health data in Health At a Glance.

The next meeting of CHRODIS Plus will take place around March 2019 in Budapest.
