The Platform welcomes the adoption of the WHO Draft Global Oral Health Action Plan 2023-2030

The Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe warmly welcomes the adoption of the WHO Draft Global Oral Health Action Plan 2023-2030 as part of the Political declaration of the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health by the 76th World Health Assembly. This is a crucial step to bring momentum and mobilise all actors to address the burden of oral diseases and common risk factors for NCDs while integrating oral health as part of general health and promoting cross-sectoral cooperation on good oral health worldwide.

We reiterate our call for the European Union and all its institutions to work closely with the WHO Regional Office for Europe to ensure coordinated action to support the implementation of the WHO’s Global Oral Health Strategy through programmes in Europe and in the EU. The Platform is looking forward to working together with policymakers and stakeholders to ensure that, by 2030, good oral health can become a reality for all in Europe.
